The National Assessment Service (NAS) responded to a request by the BLENNZ Wellington team, to undertake assessment locally for six ākonga.

Assessments took place at the Visual Resource Centre and involved whānau, local therapists and teaching teams, a metabolic nurse specialist from Starship Hospital and the Resource Teachers Vision (RTV) working with these ākonga.

The value of working together in partnership to best meet individual needs and sharing knowledge and skills to enhance outcomes for these ākonga was evident and of benefit for all.

Having the option to provide NAS services in the regions is paramount in meeting ākonga need at a local level and to strengthen relationships both within BLENNZ, and with teams outside of BLENNZ.
