Low Vision Professional Development workshops | BLENNZ
During the month of March we held two Low Vision Professional Development workshops. One in Tauranga and one in Rotorua.
Figure 1 - Screenshot of the Low vision professional development agenda.
Following on from the years of ‘distance learning’ for the PD days, the over-riding goal for Tauranga VRC this year was to create a more ‘hands on approach’ to our program and to provide opportunities for participants to better understand how they can support low vision ākonga.
The feedback on the revised program was positive and people enjoyed the small group workshops as this was more personal and relevant to their ākonga. We included modelling of ‘classroom experiences’ to highlight successful strategies that can be implemented organically in any classroom, to support our ākonga.
